About the play

Now in its tenth successful season as Off-Broadway's longest-running musical ever, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change celebrates the modern-day suburban mating game. It's a madcap romp through the jungle of dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives, and in-laws, in which a cast of four - aided by piano and violin - portrays over sixty roles in a collection of delightful scenes and songs.

 

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change has also been produced worldwide, with long runs in Chicago, Boston, Denver, Toronto, Barcelona, Mexico City and Prague.

 

About the authors

Joe DiPietro:

Plays: Over the River and Through the Woods, The Kiss at City Hall, The Art of Murder (Edgar Award, Best Mystery, 2000).

Musicals: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and The Thing About Men (both with composer Jimmy Roberts), Memphis (with composer David Bryan), the upcoming new Gerswhin musical Heaven on Earth and a new book for Rodgers and Hammerstein's Allegro.

Currently, Joe is working on All Shook Up, an original musical comedy featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, which is headed to Broadway this spring.

 

Jimmy Roberts:

Other Off-Broadway credits include The Thing About Men, also written with Joe DiPietro, A...My Name Is Still Alice, Pets!, incidental music for Joe DiPietro's Over the River and Through the Woods, and The Velveteen Rabbit, a children's musical.

Mr. Roberts, the recipient of annual ASCAP awards for theatre, composed the musical theme for the weekly PBS show Theater Talk and is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied piano with Constance Keene.
